Our mistakes don’t limit us, only our fears do

I was in the throws of putting together an Option on a guest house in my home town.  I had negotiated the terms and the solicitor was putting together the contract.  

It had been agreed that the top rooms of the guest house would have en-suites put into them and the vendor would bare the cost.  It was very close to being tied up and the bathrooms were about to be ordered.  I suggested the vendor make use of my LNPG account which gave incredible discounts on bathrooms – I felt it was the least I could do if she was baring the cost.  She accepted the offer and they were purchased.  

How silly was I ……………………….. With the contracts not signed, sshe pulled the rug on the deal and because she had used my account, I had to pay for the bathrooms, which to this day many years later I have never seen.  Never will people I teach and help make that mistake.  A careless mistake that cost money, no one wants to lose.  But the learnings were colossal and my attitude was to double in profit what I had lost.

We can gain so much knowledge from our mistakes, and all it takes is the willingness to learn from them. We get to know what works and what doesn't from each error we come across. Without mistakes, we lose countless opportunities to gain valuable knowledge and learn lessons

Mistakes free us from sabotaging fears and help us take more positive risks, they reboot our motivation and move us to learn 

I know I have made many mistakes and I have learnt enormously from them.  I have learnt from others mistakes too and I know many have learnt from mine

Don’t be limited by the fear of mistakes, spread your wings, fly with confidence and allow yourself the freedom to not always get it right.  You will find that you will get so much further if you have faith in yourself, park the fear and accept that in every step you take, every mistake you make you will be more capable and more resilient 

We can mitigate risk, work methodically and with care, the art of diligence and scrupulous amounts of Due diligence we can hope to make less mistakes.  But mistakes will be made none the less and you will use those mistakes to grow, to master techniques, to create new strategies, to better processes and to become a whole lot wiser
