I have just been to a place where peace settled in my heart in away hard to explain, a place I felt so connected to as if I’d found it after many years of searching.   As I lay on the big cast iron bed on fresh white linen and looked up at the high ceiling and breathed in the fresh air that came through the large wooden open patio doors onto the balcony, I felt at home.  I felt ready for a new chapter, a new adventure.


Cingoli on the Eastern side of Italy was where Josh, George and I ventured to for one day.  Arriving on Tuesday evening in mid May and returning home on Thursday morning, you would not believe what we did in 1 full day.  


This wonderful property with incredible potential, I had on behalf of a friend, offered as a purchase lease option for the two years before COVID.  But………… no-one had bitten the bullet and for 100,000 euros taken up the option.  I believe there is a lot of fear that stops people doing deals which is sad as they miss so much opportunity. It was however an exciting moment when Josh and I decided we would do it.  We visited the villa and were thrilled to see the pictures were nothing compared to the beauty we found.  


33 years ago I purchased a chalet in the French Alps by using a strategy that has allowed me to build a portfolio and given me choice.  The purchase price all those years ago was £175,000   It was about lifestyle first, followed by income and we have had incredible times over those years and benefited from the income it has generated.  


But what staggers me is 33 years on we are acquiring a property for £100,000 that is bigger and has such potential.  That will I know allow for many memories to be made, for adventure and sharing, for respite and rest.


Purchase Lease Options and other equally amazing strategies allow for everyone with the right mindset to acquire property in many parts of the world.


Remember it doesn’t always have to be about making money but having a place to make memories, to recuperate and to live life.


Josh has bought his option of 5 years and pulled out part of the cost of the villa and I am selling one of my assets.  With a portion of the profit we will do up the villa and in this instance will allow it to be debt free.   This is not the norm when building property portfolios but for our own reasons in this instance debt free it will be.


So the story begins as we wait for Italy’s offices to wake up after the summer break and for exchange and completion to take place.  Keep your eyes open for the next chapter of basement and top floor renovations and the day to day conundrums of renovations and life in the mountains of Italy.
